Nottinghamshire vs Worcestershire, Nottingham

Ed Barnard smashed 42 off 19 as Worcestershire defeated Nottinghamshire with by 28 runs after posting 161 for 6. Plenty of batsmen got starts but Nottinghamshire found themselves in trouble at 102 for 6 after opting to bat. Barnard was the main difference between the sides as he hit six fours and one six to end with a strike rate of more than 200.

Alex Hales, who was bowled by Barnard, struck a half-century but the chase never really got going as Moeen Ali picked four from the middle-order.

Brief scores: Worcestershire 161/6 in 20 overs (Ed Barnard 42*) beat Nottinghamshire 133/9 in 20 overs (Alex Hales 52; Moeen Ali 4-18) by 28 runs.

South Group

Middlesex vs Essex, London

AB de Villiers smashed 88 off 43 on his T20 Blast debut as Middlesex eased past Essex after chasing down 164 in 17 overs with seven wickets in hand. Dawid Malan scored 43 and added 105 with de Villiers after they slipped to 39 for 2. De Villiers remained unbeaten in the chase as he smashed six sixes and five boundaries.

Earlier, after being put in, Ryan ten Doeschate made unbeaten 74 but regular wickets hurt Essex. Tom Helm bagged three and was well supported by Nathan Sowter, who ended with two.

Brief scores: Essex 164/6 in 20 overs (Ryan ten Doeschate 74*; Tom Helm 3-27) lost to Middlesex 166/3 in 17 overs (AB de Villiers 88) by seven wickets.

Glamorgan vs Somerset, Cardiff

Tom Banton and Peter Trego helped Somerset canter to an eight-wicket win over Glamorgan as they chased down 180 in 18 overs. Babar Azam and Banton got the team off to a solid start as they smashed 98 in 8.5 overs to take the game away. Trego gave the side the finishing touches as he ended with 47.

Jeremy Lawlor (43), David Lloyd (57) and Colin Ingram (50) did the bulk of the scoring for Glamorgan but a late collapse meant the team ended with a par score.

Brief scores: Glamorgan 180/5 in 20 overs (David Lloyd 57, Colin Ingram 50) lost to Somerset 181/2 in 18 overs (Tom Banton 64) by eight wickets.
