South Africa bowled out Sri Lanka for just 203. After Faf du Plessis won the toss and put Sri Lanka into bat, Kagiso Rabada removed Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne on the first ball of the match. Sri Lanka kept on losing wickets at regular intervals in Chester-le-Street. South Africa made two changes, bringing in Dwaine Pretorius and JP Duminy for Lungi Ngidi and David Miller and Dwaine Pretorius responded by registering figures of three for 25 in his 10 overs. For Sri Lanka, Kusal Perera and Avishka Fernando both scored 30 runs each, while other batsmen failed to get the Sri Lankan innings going.
